Ingredients

- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric or 1-inch piece fresh turmeric
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 2 cups water or milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- Optional: 3 slices fresh ginger
Instructions
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water or milk, turmeric, black pepper, and optional ginger.
- Simmer the mixture gently for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally to allow the flavors to infuse.
- Strain the mixture into a mug using a fine mesh strainer to remove any solids.
- Stir in lemon juice and honey or maple syrup to taste.
- Serve hot. Garnish with a lemon slice or sprinkle cinnamon if desired.
