Description

Enjoy making and savoring these delightful Strawberry Cream Puff Treats!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make Choux Pastry: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Add the flour all at once, stirring vigorously until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Remove from heat and let it cool for 5 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, until the dough is smooth and shiny.
  3. Pipe the Pastry: Transfer the dough to a piping bag with a large round tip. Pipe small mounds onto the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
  4. Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the puffs are golden brown and dry. Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  5. Prepare the Cream Filling: In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  6. Assemble the Cream Puffs: Slice the cooled puffs in half horizontally. Pipe or spoon the whipped cream into the bottom halves. Layer sliced strawberries over the cream and place the top halves back on.
  7. Dust with Sugar: Lightly dust the tops with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the dough cools slightly before adding eggs to prevent them from cooking.
  • For a glossy finish, brush the tops of the puffs with a beaten egg before baking.
  • Ensure the puffs are completely cool before adding the cream filling to prevent melting.
  • Experiment with different fruits or flavored creams for variety.
