Description

The perfect sweet treat combining crispy rice cereal with salted caramel and chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 10 oz marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Sea salt flakes for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  2. Make the Caramel Mixture: In a large pot, combine the unsalted butter, brown sugar, and marshmallows. Heat over medium until the mixture is fully melted and smooth. Stir in the salted caramel sauce until well combined.
  3. Combine with Cereal: Remove from heat and quickly add the crispy rice cereal. Stir until the cereal is evenly coated with the caramel mixture.
  4. Shape the Bars: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Press down the mixture evenly using a spatula.
  5. Melt and Drizzle Chocolate: Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the pressed cereal mixture.
  6. Add Final Touches: Sprinkle sea salt flakes evenly over the chocolate drizzle.
  7. Set and Serve: Allow the bars to set at room temperature for about 1 hour or until firm. Use parchment overhang to lift the bars from the pan. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can brown the butter slightly before adding the marshmallows.
  • Ensure even coating by working quickly with the cereal, as the caramel mixture can harden as it cools.
  • Adjust the amount of sea salt to taste; a little goes a long way.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
