Description
Delicious peppermint buttercream spritz cookies, perfect for festive occasions!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons peppermint extract
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Crushed peppermint candies for garnish
- Green and red sugar sprinkles (optional)
- Piping bag and star tip for shaping cookies
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract until well combined.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Shape the Cookies: Fill a piping bag fitted with a star tip with the cookie dough. Pipe the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 1 inch between each cookie.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove cookies and allow them to cool on a wire rack.
- Garnish: While cookies are still slightly warm, sprinkle crushed peppermint candies and, if desired, green and red sugar sprinkles over the top.
Notes
- Ensure that the butter is at room temperature for easy mixing.
- To make the spritz cookies more festive, experiment with different piping tips and shapes.
- Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness and prevent the peppermint from softening.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of peppermint extract to suit your taste preference.
