Description
Delicious croissant rolls filled with Nutella, perfect for breakfast or snacks.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup Nutella (or any chocolate spread)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Add the softened butter, warm milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until a soft dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Croissants: Punch down the dough to release air. Roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Cut the rectangle into triangles. Place a dollop of Nutella at the base of each triangle. Roll each triangle from the base to the tip to form a crescent shape.
- Second Rise: Place the croissant rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat and Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush each roll with an egg wash made by beating one egg with a tablespoon of water. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly after baking. Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast without killing it.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon to the dough.
- If you prefer, you can use store-bought crescent dough as a shortcut.
- Serve with coffee or tea for a delightful treat.
