Description

Delicious croissant rolls filled with Nutella, perfect for breakfast or snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Nutella (or any chocolate spread)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Add the softened butter, warm milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until a soft dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  2. First Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  3. Shape the Croissants: Punch down the dough to release air. Roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Cut the rectangle into triangles. Place a dollop of Nutella at the base of each triangle. Roll each triangle from the base to the tip to form a crescent shape.
  4. Second Rise: Place the croissant rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat and Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush each roll with an egg wash made by beating one egg with a tablespoon of water. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly after baking. Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast without killing it.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon to the dough.
  • If you prefer, you can use store-bought crescent dough as a shortcut.
  • Serve with coffee or tea for a delightful treat.
