Deliciously soft and flavorful red velvet cookies topped with a rich cream cheese frosting.

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp red food coloring
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract and red food coloring.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto prepared baking sheets and bake for about 10-12 minutes until set. Allow cooling on wire racks.
- For frosting, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, softened butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Once cookies are completely cool, frost generously with cream cheese frosting.
Notes
- If desired, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for a thicker cookie.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
