Description

A comforting casserole dish made with ground beef, cheese, and rice.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10 oz) French onion soup, condensed
  • 1 can (10 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess grease. Add onion and garlic, cook until softened.
  2. Stir in French onion soup, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add cooked rice and stir until the mixture is fully combined.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and pour in the mixture evenly.
  5. Top with mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Cover with foil.
  6. Bake covered for 20 minutes, then uncover and bake another 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
  7. Remove from oven, let rest for 5–10 minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

  • This casserole can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
