Description

This decadent triple chocolate mousse cake features a rich chocolate cake layer, two luscious chocolate mousse layers, and delightful toppings. Perfect for chocolate lovers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 oz milk chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 1/4 cup chocolate shavings
  • 1012 large marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake Layer:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a round cake pan.
In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Add buttermilk, oil, egg, and vanilla. Mix until combined and smooth.
Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  2. Make the Dark Chocolate Mousse:
Melt dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water. Let it cool slightly.
In another bowl, whip cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
Fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream gently until combined. Spread over the cooled cake.
  3. Make the Milk Chocolate Mousse:
Repeat the same process as the dark chocolate mousse using milk chocolate.
Spread the milk chocolate mousse over the dark chocolate layer evenly.
  4. Chill the Cake:
Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or until the mousse layers are set.
  5. Decoration:
Once set, top the cake with whipped cream.
Garnish with chocolate shavings and toasted marshmallows.

Notes

  • Make sure to let each layer cool completely before adding another to prevent the mousse from melting.
  • For a smooth mousse, ensure the chocolate cools slightly after melting before mixing with whipped cream.
  • Toast the marshmallows with a kitchen torch for a more roasted flavor.
  • Use a springform pan for easier removal of the cake.
